Horace Greeley Scholarship   

The Horace Greeley Foundation was established to recognize the influence Horace Greeley had on American life and thought.   Horace Greeley was an abolitionist, a newspaper giant as founder of the New York Tribune, and a candidate for President of the United States against Ulysses S. Grant   The Vermont legislature formally recognized Greeley during the 2007 legislative session by passing a resolution to honor him as a notable countryman who was the voice of conscience to the American people.

 The Greeley Foundation offers scholarships annually to high school seniors entering college and majoring in English, Journalism, Communications, Political Science, History or other related disciplines.

 Applicants must submit a double-spaced essay (minimum 2 pages) regarding Horace Greeley’s impact on American society.  Also required is a letter of recommendation from your high school.  Applications must include name, address, phone, high school, college, and academic major.  Completed applications must be submitted by May 15th and mailed to the Horace Greeley Foundation, 95 On The Green, East Poultney, VT  05764.
