The Horace Greeley Writers' Conference October 24-25 2009 Fox Hill Center for the Arts Poultney, Vermont The two day symposium will feature four authors providing inspirational presentations and interactive writing workshops designed to give voice to aspiring writers and offer an opportunity for experienced writers to renew a commitment to a narrative, a biography or an unfinished poem. Writers in all genres are welcome to spend a fall weekend in this Vermont village. Autumn in Vermont with the ambience set on high. Our Authors: Barbara Stewart: Barbara Stewart is a citizen-historian and author of musicals, plays, technical writing and the best-selling humor book, The Complete How to Kazoo (www.howtokazoo.com). Her latest work is Company of Women(c)2008 , a non-fiction book and docudrama on Poultney Revolutionary War ancestors. Barbara has taught writing for over thirty years and was Assistant Artistic Director at Tony Randall's National Actors Theatre on Broadway. She has performed on The Tonight Show and with George Carlin, Frank Zappa, and PDQ Bach. She lives in Fairport, New York. Joni B. Cole: Joni B. Cole is the author of the inspiring (and often hilarious) book, Toxic Feedback: Helping Writers Survive and Thrive (2006). She is also the creator of the acclaimed, This Day book series, including the third and most recent volume, Water Cooler Diaries: Women Across America Share Their Day At Work (2008). Joni has taught writing workshops for fifteen years, and is a frequent speaker at university and MFA programs and writing conferences around the country. A professional editor and freelance writer, she has published numerous feature articles and essays in regional and national magazines, including Writer Magazine and Family Circle. Joni lives in Hartford, Vermont with her husband, two daughters ages 9 and 11, and is currently working on a collection of personal essays. Robert C. Williams:
Dr.
Robert C. Williams is a semi-retired historian and the author of Horace
Greeley: Champion of American Freedom (2006), The Historian's
Toolbox (2003), and
numerous other books and articles in modern European, Russian, and
American history. He has taught history at Williams College, Washington
University in St. Louis, Davidson College and Bates College. He received
his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1966 and an honorary Doctorate of
Fine Arts from Wittenberg University in 2007. He lives in Center Lovell ME
with his wife Ann and numerous dogs and cats. See the registration
